Coffee Grinder Repairs in Cape Town
A grinder that jams, runs hot, will not start or grinds unevenly will wreck a good espresso machine's output. We repair and service domestic and commercial coffee grinders across Cape Town.
Repairs and Servicing for Coffee Grinders
A grinder is a simple machine under heavy load: a motor turning burrs against hard beans, hour after hour. The result is wear and the build-up of oil and fines, and the faults that follow are mostly motor, switch and capacitor failures, worn or damaged burrs, blocked chutes and hoppers, and dosing mechanisms that no longer deliver reliably.
We repair standalone grinders for the home and for cafés, including the types commonly paired with prosumer espresso machines, such as the Rancilio Rocky, Rocket Faustino, Lelit William and Fred, and the Sage Smart Grinder Pro. We also repair the built-in grinders on automatic machines, covered separately on our page about grinder faults on coffee machines.

The Grinders We Repair
Domestic burr grinders
Home grinders, from compact electric burr grinders to larger prosumer models, such as Sage and Lelit.
Commercial grinders
On-demand and doser grinders in cafés and restaurants, including Rancilio Rocky and similar machines.
Integrated grinders
The grinder inside a bean-to-cup machine or an all-in-one espresso machine.
Grinder servicing
Burr cleaning, inspection and replacement, calibration and a full strip-down for machines in daily use.
Grinder Faults We See Most
Grinder will not start
A failed switch, capacitor, thermal cut-out or motor. Safety-critical, so please do not open mains-powered grinders yourself.
Unusual noises
A foreign object, a loose or worn burr set, or a failing bearing. Stop grinding and have it checked.
Inconsistent or uneven grinding
Worn burrs, a misaligned burr carrier or retained old grounds. Shots become unpredictable.
Blockages and jams
Oily beans, caked grounds in the chute or a stone in the hopper. The cause decides the fix.
Dosing problems
A doser that over- or under-delivers, a sticking mechanism or a timer or sensor fault on on-demand grinders.
Overheating or slow grinding
A tiring motor or burrs that have gone blunt, causing the motor to labour.

A Good Grinder Is Half the Espresso Machine
If your espresso suddenly tastes worse, the grinder deserves as much suspicion as the machine. Worn burrs produce a mixture of fine and coarse particles, so you grind finer to compensate, and the machine then works harder against a puck that is tight in some places and loose in others. That looks like a pressure or pump fault. A short grinder check can save a needless machine repair.
For that reason, grinder repairs are often done together with the machine. See our espresso machine repairs page for the machines, and our commercial coffee machine repairs page for cafés that rely on both, with servicing under coffee machine servicing.

Coffee Grinder Repair FAQs
Yes. We repair domestic and commercial grinders, as well as the grinders built into bean-to-cup and some espresso machines.
A foreign object, worn or loose burrs, or a failing motor or bearing. Stop using it and bring it in, because grinding with a stone or damaged burr can make things worse.
Uneven particle size, a need to grind finer and finer to hold the same shot time, more heat, more noise or a slower grind are all signs of wear. Burr life depends on volume and burr type.
It depends on volume. A busy café grinder benefits from regular checks, and burr changes on a schedule. Ask us about a plan on our commercial page.
A blockage in the chute or hopper, a jammed feed mechanism, or a slipped coupling between motor and burrs. A diagnostic will tell us which.
