Rocket Espresso Coffee Machine Repairs in Cape Town
Rocket Espresso machines are built to be repaired, which is just as well when they are used daily. We repair and service Rocket Appartamento, Giotto, Mozzafiato and R Cinquantotto machines across Cape Town.
Professional Rocket Espresso Coffee Machine Repairs
Rocket machines are Italian-built, with an E61 group head and a mix of designs: heat-exchanger models such as the Appartamento, Giotto and Mozzafiato, and dual-boiler machines like the R Cinquantotto. Some are offered in vibration-pump and rotary-pump versions, which changes both noise and the way we test them. Their build quality means repairs are usually about wear rather than failure, namely group gaskets, valve seals, boilers affected by scale, and the occasional pump or electronic fault.
We also repair Rocket grinders such as the Faustino. If you are not sure how your machine is plumbed or what its group is, send us the model name and a photo of the front. Our overview of the designs involved is on our espresso machine repairs page.

Rocket Espresso Faults We See Most
E61 group leaking or dripping
The group gasket and shower screen wear with use. We also check the valve seals and group internals.
Boiler pressure too high or low
On a heat-exchanger machine, boiler pressure is key to brew temperature. Faults come from the pressurestat, element or scale.
Weak or noisy pump
Vibration-pump machines can lose pressure; rotary pumps need their own checks and plumbing connections.
Shots too hot or too cold
Heat-exchanger flushing, boiler pressure or a faulty control. See heating faults.
Steam valve leaks or weak steam
Worn valve seals, blocked tips or scale. See milk frothing faults.
Water under the machine
Fittings, hoses or the tank connection. For plumbed-in machines, we check the supply as well. See leaks.

Heat Exchanger, Dual Boiler, Vibration or Rotary
A heat-exchanger Rocket (Appartamento, Giotto, Mozzafiato) brews from water that passes through a heat exchanger in the steam boiler, which means it works best when you cool-flush the group before brewing. If shots come out scalding or sour, the fault may be the technique, the boiler pressure or the machine itself, and we measure to find out.
A dual-boiler R Cinquantotto has a separate brew boiler, so there are two heating systems and a PID to check. Pump type matters too: if you are unsure whether yours is vibration or rotary, check the rear panel or send us the model. We will confirm at the diagnostic stage.
Looking After a Rocket
Descale according to your water, flush a heat-exchanger machine as the manual describes, back-flush the group regularly and keep the steam wand clean. A group gasket and shower screen refresh once a year is cheap insurance on a machine in daily use.
Plumbed-in machines should have their filtration and water supply checked at every service. A full service covers gaskets, valves, the boiler and the pump, and is the best thing you can do for the lifespan of a Rocket.
